(scroll this section to read all)

It is extremely useful to know how to measure using a ruler and understand all about distances (including heights, widths, lengths etc.) in both U.S. customary units and metric units. Other properties to learn about are temperature, mass, weight and volume. Knowing how to use ad read a thermometer and balance scales are an important life skill too as well as being necessary in both math and science.

All jobs require a basic understanding of measurements and many higher grade occupations require a higher level of mathematical understanding, of which measurements is a fundamental part, such as engineering, finance and business related activities.

After you have a good understanding of measures, you should be able to:

  • understand and compare heights and lengths
  • work with weightand mass
  • solve problems related to volume and capacity
  • understand temperature
  • understand the differences between discrete and continuous measures
  • be able to use simple measuring tools such as a ruler, scales and thermometer
  • convert and calculate units of measure in different units
  • work out areas of regular shapes

Below is a list of free, high quality links to exciting, fun games, activities and learning videos to help you master the important topic of measures and measurement. During daily life you will notice yourself measuring all the time including with weight, mass, length and capacities so why not learn all about it via our enjoyable measurement links?
