Understanding Seasonal Changes and why it occurs is not only part of the Science curriculum but a very important part of understanding how the planet works.

Having an excellent working knowledge of Seasonal Change and how it affects both plants and animals is important in many vocations. These include farming and agriculture, botanical, forestry and ecological work, landscaping and groundkeeping.

Some key learning points about Seasonal changes are :

  • Observing the Sun's movement throughout the day
  • Noticing changes throughout the four seasons
  • Observing the variation in the weather in different seasons
  • Observing the variation in the hours of daylight in different seasons
  • Understanding how movement of the sun affects the temperature throughout the day
  • Understand the difference between weather and climate
  • Understand appropriate clothing to wear in each season
  • Understand what causes the seasons (the way the Earth's tilt interacts with the Sun)
  • Understand the relationship between the Seasons in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres
